The "Yaris Cross" is an urban compact SUV released by Toyota in August 2020 with the catchphrase "If it catches your interest, do it all." This Yaris Cross firmly inherits the characteristics of the Yaris series, such as nimble driving, advanced safety and security technology, and low fuel consumption. Although less than a year has passed since its launch, it has attracted attention from a wide range of age groups, surpassing its monthly sales target of 4,100 units within about a month of its sales start. Among these, the mid-range grades like "G" and "Hybrid G" are particularly popular. They gather popularity for their high cost-performance regarding standard equipment content. Key standard features on the "G" grade and above include 16-inch aluminum wheels, front door glass with Super UV cut and IR cut functions, and a genuine leather-wrapped steering wheel. Especially the 16-inch aluminum wheels look much better than steel wheels and match the stylish form of the Yaris Cross, gaining support from a wide range of generations. The front door glass features a Super UV cut function that blocks about 99% of ultraviolet rays and an IR cut function that effectively blocks infrared rays, which cause room temperature rise. This balance between comprehensive equipment and price is the reason for its support across a wide range of generations. Although the Yaris Cross is part of the Yaris series, it differs from the Yaris in various aspects. For example, regarding exterior design, compared to the sporty Yaris, the Yaris Cross emphasizes the wildness of an SUV. Vehicle size is also about one size larger than the Yaris in overall length, width, and height. The spaciousness of the interior is another difference from the Yaris. Due to the larger vehicle size, not only the interior space but also the luggage space is very large.
