TOYOTA PRIUS Description

The "Prius" is a sedan-type hybrid car launched in 1997 with the catchphrase "We made it in time for the 21st century." The name "Prius" is Latin for "to go before," embodying the desire "to create a car that builds the future of the Earth." It was the first hybrid car to achieve practical application and received the "Best Double Decade" award at the 20th anniversary of the Japan Car of the Year. Since its launch, improvements have been made, such as achieving a 140kg vehicle weight reduction in the second-generation model released in September 2003. In December 2015, the fourth-generation model was launched with the development concept "Beautiful Hybrid (Beautiful Earth, Beautiful Car)." Grades available for the model released in November 2017 included "A," "A Touring Selection," and "A Premium." The minor change in December 2018 revamped the style and made the dedicated communication device DCM standard on all cars, evolving it into a connected car. Additionally, the collision avoidance support package "Toyota Safety Sense" became standard equipment, enhancing safety features. In the partial improvement in July 2020, the Intelligent Clearance Sonar "Parking Support Brake (Stationary Objects)" became standard on all cars, aiming to reduce damage from accidents caused by pedal misapplication. At the same time, an external power supply function, useful during disasters, became standard on all cars. In June 2021, a partial improvement made the 8-inch Display Audio standard equipment (excluding the E grade). Regarding body colors, many variations such as "Attitude Black Mica," "Silver Metallic," and "Blue Metallic" are available for standard grades, while some special editions offer specially set two-tone roof and body colors. A welfare vehicle "Welcab" is also available, including models with a rotating and tilting passenger seat. The vehicle weight of this model ranges from 1320kg to 1460kg.
