TOYOTA MR2 Description

The "MR2" is a two-seater sports car equipped with a midship layout engine. Sales of this car began in 1984, developed not as a sports car but as a "sporty personal car" under the concept that any user could easily enjoy driving. The first model won the Japan Car of the Year award in the same year it was released. To ensure mass production, this vehicle used suspension, engines, and transmissions borrowed from the "E80 series Corolla." Grades available for the model released in December 1997 include the "GT" with a turbo engine and steering-linked front fog lamps, the "GT-S" with a turbo engine but omitting the radio for 6 speakers, the "G" where electric power steering could be optionally set, and the "G Limited" with enhanced equipment. A "T-bar roof specification" where the overhead panel could be removed was also available. The information in this description is current as of July 2018.
