The "Alto," introduced in 1979, is Suzuki's representative light car (kei car). The 6th generation model, launched after a full model change in September 2004, pursued excellent economy and basic performance under the concept "An approachable car that can be used casually in one's own time." This model won the 2009 Good Design Award. The 8th generation model offers both 5-number passenger sedan and 4-number commercial van types. The grade available for the model released in May 2017 is "X." The suspension format for this vehicle uses a MacPherson strut type at the front and a torsion beam type or I.T.L. (Isolated Trailing Link) type at the rear. Various body color variations are available, including "Urban Brown Pearl Metallic" and "Chiffon Ivory Metallic." Special editions for this car include the "EII," available on the model released in September 2007, and the "Alto 30th Anniversary Car," available on the model released in May 2009. The information in this description is current as of September 2018.
