Introduced in 1973, the "Lancer" is Mitsubishi's representative small standard model. This car has spawned many derivative models, primarily as a 5-number 4-door sedan, but also including wagons and hatchbacks. The sedan type was sold under the name "Lancer EX" from 1979 to 1987, and "Lancer Cedia" from 2000. From the model released in February 2003, it reverted to the "Lancer" name. In 1992, the "Lancer Evolution," a sports specification model equipped with a 2,000cc high-power turbo engine, was introduced. In 2007, the "Lancer Evolution X" was launched, renewed under the product concept of "A new generation high-performance 4WD sedan that allows anyone to enjoy 'high-dimensional driving' comfortably and safely." Grades for the model released in August 2014 include "GSR Evolution X" and "GSR Premium Evolution X." In this model, the door mirrors were changed to include turn signals, and stitching was added to the front door trim. Available body colors include "Phantom Black Pearl," "Cool Silver Metallic," and "Lightning Blue Mica." The information in this description is current as of October 2018.
