The "Gelandewagen" is an SUV-type vehicle sold by Mercedes-Benz. Originally a military vehicle adapted for civilian use, it is a car with excellent off-road capabilities. Since its launch in 1979, its robust body and basic styling have remained largely unchanged, while equipment and interior have been updated. The model released in August 1991 featured side steps and overfenders on the exterior, and the interior became more like a modern passenger car.
